CytoFix®is a cellular antigen stabilisation procedure that ensures the retention of leucocyte light scatter and immunological staining characteristics of stabilised whole blood and buffy coat for 90 days. CytoFix® can also be used in conjunction with primary cells and immortalised cell lines. CytoFix® whole blood products are compatible with all flow cytometer platforms, incorporating eitherwhole blood lysis or "no wash, no lyse techniques".
CytoFix® can be used to stabilise any normal or pathological blood profile for use as a reference or control sample for flow cytometry.
The CytoFix® stabilisation procedure was developed by medical scientists working for the UK NEQAS Immune Monitoring Scheme (UK NEQAS) and is still used to the present day to manufacture stabilised samples for use in their monitoring scheme. The CytoFix® stabilisation procedure has enabled overseas laboratories to participate in the UK NEQAS Immune Monitoring Scheme.
CytoFix® stabilisation ensures the retention of leucocyte light scatter and immunological staining characteristics of the sample for up to 90 days. The ranges of inter laboratory coefficient of variation for the stabilised material are tighter than those obtained with fresh whole blood.
