Whole Blood Controls for Flow Cytometry
Coming Soon
CytoFix
CytoFixTM is a novel stabilisation procedure that ensures retention of leucocyte light scatter and immunological staining characteristics for up to 90 days. CytoFixTM stabilised whole blood preparations are fully compatible with flow cytometer technology, incorporating either whole blood lysis or “no wash, no lyse” techniques.
The CytoFixTM stabilisation procedure was developed by medical scientists working for UK NEQAS, a part of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
UK NEQAS found that the ranges of inter-laboratory coefficient of variation for the CytoFixTM blood samples were tighter than those previously obtained with fresh whole blood. The first publication on the use of CytoFixTM stabilised blood samples was published in 1996 by D. Barnett et al, Cytometry 26, 216-212.
Cytomark Ltd licensed the rights to the CytoFixTM process in 2006 and is working towards making available a range of CytoFixTM stabilised blood controls in late 2007.
